La Ford Mustang bleu p�trole 1965 d�boule en effrayant la pierraille qui entoure l'�glise Saint-Martin. Il en sort un homme, long et glabre, qui pourrait bien �tre la version denim du cur� local. Non, pas assez en chair pour rassurer les ouailles. D'autant que le visage couteau porte une mince cicatrice habillant l'oeil droit. D'un sourire, tout cela se m�tamorphose en profil d'homme encore jeune, charmant mais toujours dou� d'ubiquit�. L'auteur de fausses bluettes (Ma femme me trompe) est le m�me qui, aux r�centes Nuits Botanique, crame l'�lectricit� en chicotant longuement sa Gretsch bordeaux.

Het Luikse Blue Velvet is sterk be�nvloed door Dead Man Ray en heeft met Rudy Trouv� dan ook de geschikte producer aan de haak geslagen. De knappe productie is ook het eerste wat opvalt aan
?Level II?. De poprock meets folk is in een chique maatpak gehesen dat de inhoud alleen maar opwaardeert. Het duo Mirco en pH vormen het centrale zenuwstelsel dat bijgestaan wordt door een resem muzikanten. We horen Eels meets Girls In Hawa� maar dan structureel een pak avontuurlijker. ?Level II? is een aangename luisterplaat die af en toe blijk geeft van grote klasse zoals in ?Message On My Lips? of ?Wayhouse? met zijn heerlijk meanderend trompetje. Jammer genoeg wordt de aandacht niet altijd even sterk aangehouden en zouden enkele nummers beter de selectie niet doorstaan hebben
? ?Level II? duurt immers net geen 50 minuten. Iets meer gebald en dit album was een (nog) stevige(re) aanrader! (dw)

Voil� bien un groupe qui a de la personnalit� en retrait du magma des albums bourr�s de boucles de synth�. Car � parcourir son Level 2,
le duo li�geois de Blue Velvet en pince passionn�ment pour les bonnes �vieilles� cordes. Celles dans lesquelles Mirco Gasparrini et pH (Philippe Henrion) ont commenc� � brasser leur folk intimiste, il y a 5 ans, avec les caf�s de la cit� ardente pour seuls t�moins. Aujourd'hui, leur r�seau fait fi des fronti�res mosanes par la gr�ce d'un premier album enrichi de nouvelles explorations musicales.

(the) Silent Days are a French band from Belgium that play a relaxed and lush indie pop. They just released the California EP, and I must say it is quite the pleasant listen. Unfortunately, that?s about all I can say. There isn?t anything inherently wrong with this band, but they simply don?t make a lasting impression. Julien Bouchard, band leader, just writes quaint songs that seem like great open mic night material. While the tunes are good, they are ultimately not catchy enough.

101 ans apr�s la travers�e de la Manche, accomplie par Louis Bl�riot, aux commandes de son avion, les Y�y� remettent le couvert. Brillamment et talentueusement. Pas inconnus au bataillon, David Leloup et Fabrice Hubert, fiers esth�tes de la Pop fran�aise avec un grand P comme lettre de noblesse, sont parvenus � creuser leur tunnel sous la Manche pour dresser un tableau entre les deux nations un tableau qui doit autant � Marcel Duchamp ou Andr� Breton qu'� James Kirkwood.

Derri�re ce patronyme fleurant bon la Perfide Albion se cache en fait un quatuor typiquement ?frenchie?, import� en ligne directe d?Epinal, petite ville vosgienne, � mi-distance entre Strasbourg et Dijon. De ce coin-l� ne peuvent �merger que de bons crus?

(The) Silent Days est un quatuor, mais la t�te pensante du combo se nomme Julien Bouchard, au four et au moulin et dans tous les bons coups, tant � l?�criture des textes qu?aux compositions musicales. Mais lorsque la troupe est r�unie, elle manifeste une efficacit� et une complicit� redoutables.

L?univers singulier de Blue Velvet est le fruit d?une belle et simple rencontre entre deux m�lomanes avertis : Mirco et pH. � Level 2 � constitue leur second album. Une formation dont les influences sont particuli�rement vari�es. Mais une question s?impose d?embl�e : serions-nous en pr�sence d?un concept sombre et herm�tique, influenc� par certaines ?uvres de David Lynch, � qui ils ont emprunt� le titre de l?une d?entre-elles, pour baptiser leur groupe ? Si c?est le cas, il faut plus aller chercher du c�t� du voyage contemplatif d?� Une Histoire Vraie � que des divagations oniriques d?� Inland Empire � ; car leur expression sonore rappelle constamment les grands espaces am�ricains. Le tout, bien �videmment, revu et corrig�, suivant un feeling bien belge. Dans cette optique, pas �tonnant de retrouver l?illustre Rudy Trouv� (ex-dEUS) � leurs c�t�s, pour la production et souvent � la guitare ! Si les r�f�rences � Tom Waits et My Bloody Valentine sont avanc�es par le dossier de presse, les influences de Blue Velvet sont bien plus riches que celles annonc�es. Et sont susceptibles de lorgner vers le rock d�viant de Dead Man Ray ou �lectro de The Notwist, le folk d�rang� de Neutral Milk Hotel (� Outside �, � Poison �) ou sombre de Santa Cruz (� Level II �) voire m�me de privil�gier la forme acoustique (� Try Again �) ou m�me �lectro. Le sommet du recours au bidouillages est atteint sur des titres comme � The Girls Of My Life � ou le tr�s m�lodique � Message On My Lips �. Le spectre de dEUS est cependant bien pr�sent (� Mad Horse �, � Clear My Sun �). Faut dire que les guitares ac�r�es de Rudy sont tellement caract�ristiques. N�anmoins, malgr� ce r�f�rencement particuli�rement ample, Blue Velvet poss�de assur�ment une identit� propre. D?ailleurs si ce combo devrait ais�ment se faire une place au soleil, sur la sc�ne noir, jaune, rouge (NDR : tant que la Belgique existe encore) ; il poss�de suffisamment de potentiel pour s?exporter et briller au-del� de ces fronti�res

First show of SOLDOUT yesterday as support for FRONT 242 in Frankfurt...it it was a real success.
I'm so happy we picked SOLDOUT to follow us on those German dates, really!
Even if our German audience is usually not too much into that kind of electro, the response was positive and warm!
The show was strong, the sound perfect and the band into it a 100%! I personally enjoy it and will for sure be there every night to enjoy it again!

Yesterday we were in Stuttgart, and guess what? SOLDOUT did it again! The sound was even better than in Frankfurt.
Last night was probably a little more challenging for the band cause they started early and most of the audience was still not front stage!
But that certainly didn't stop Chalotte and David to get into it, quick and efficiently, and it took them only 2 tracks to get the entire attention of the public.
Response was surely positive to their perfect performance. Charlotte's vocals were again at the right place and level and David's synths sound attack cutting like a blade!
A strong electro-cocktail to start the evening!

After the release in January 2009 of the LP called "Boxon Makes Me Happy" (ref. Boxon007), which has been pretty successfull (special discovery of artists such as Gooseflesh & StereoHeroes / good reviews in the french magazines such as Trax & Tsugi / some of the tracks have been playlisted on BBC Radio 1), now is coming the new BOXON compilation, and it is called "BOXON MAKES ME CRAZY".

This project will show you nice electronic music from artists who come from all around the word (Portugal, France, Russia, Belgium, United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil, and Argentina), and discovered by Julien Minet (Boxon director) during this year 2009. I'm sure you'll love to get it in your hands when it's OUT !!!

Also, the awesome design of the cover has been realised by our art designer, Anem.

(The) Silent Days : About the AB gig on Music In Belgium

Sans grande surprise, ce concert affichait complet et on �tait curieux de voir si le regain de forme affich� lors des pr�c�dentes prestations sc�niques (en mars 2008 dans la m�me salle et quelques mois plus tard au Pukkelpop) allait se confirmer. Mais avant de juger sur pi�ces, place � une premi�re partie, The Silent Days. Un groupe on ne peut plus british (le style, l'attitude, l'accent) � la diff�rence essentielle qu'ils sont fran�ais et assez implant�s en Belgique. En effet, leur premier album, "I Am Nothing" est distribu� par le label hutois Anorak Supersport.

Sur sc�ne, ils sont d�j� bien aguerris et leurs influences plut�t crasseuses du d�but des 90's (Dinosaur Jr, Lemonheads) en un peu plus poppy sont �tonnamment limpides gr�ce � un son r�gl� � la perfection (pour un groupe de support). Ajoutons-y la voix assur�e et le jeu de guitare sans faille de leur leader Julien Bouchard et on arrive � une prestation qui, sans �tre r�volutionnaire, aura convaincu. Cerise sur le g�teau, cette excellente cover du "Chapel Hill" de Sonic Youth, une autre de leurs influences majeures. A ce moment, on ne le savait pas encore, mais on avait int�r�t � en avoir bien profit�?

Lot of changes to begin this new season at anorak's.
We have lightened our label for some different reasons.
Exit Showstar (end of contract). The band has created his own structure (label, management and booking).
We wish them the best !
Besides, we've put an end to some of our licence deals (iamx, robots in disguise, nietzsche,...).
And our collaboration with the french label kitchen music is over.
Nevertheless, you will find "our past" in the section "friends and back catalogue" and most of their records are available (till they're sold out) in our online store.

We're looking for new signatures and we'll let you know about that for sure.

Soldout, namely the duo David and Charlotte from Brussels, appropriately head the bill. Following their debut ?Stop Talking?, they toured through Europe and finished up at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York. In 2007 they met Jason Boshoff, known for his work for Groove Armada, Basement Jaxx and Shy Child and he promptly suggested mixing their new album. New album ?CUTS? proved to be a bomb too: a more somber tone, but still a danceable rollercoaster. Following a Botanique concert that was sold out weeks in advance, the Soldout party caravan will stop on the Anspachlaan in mid February.

MVSC is a project from MONTEVIDEO, those 4 young guys from Brussels who first presented themselves to an audience last year during ABBota. With their energetic and compelling electro-dance-rock, they were hailed as the newest Belgian rock sensation at the time, think: The Rapture or !!! Now they?re fraternizing with electro miracle-man and Dirty Dancing resident COMPUPHONIC to together provide dancefloor mechanisms that raise the roof. Following an avant premi�re in the VUB Kultuurkaffee on 11 December (as part of ABClubCircuit) then finally live in the AB.

Norwegian Casiokids play around with all sorts of electronica, just like primary school children. So its not so strange then that they also give shows for children in their homeland (with Digitalteateret). But aside from that they were also able to win the heart of our travelling man at the Oya Festival in Oslo, with their grooves that waver between dark electro and naive pop. A revelation that has just been included in the succulent Moshi Moshi stables.

Since early 2006, AB has been laying new tracks with the NOW_SERIES. Samples of what?s happening today in a broadly defined genre are presented sporadically under this title. Our ears are pricked in all directions and of course we don't forget the local talent either. Further, no blinkers: all sub-genres must be able to be represented in order to introduce the audience to particular tendencies.

The Box, new single of soldout (from their forthcoming album) will be "fresh" on PureFm from tomorrow !

The electronic duo is currently putting the final touch to the recording of its second album @ studio Strongroom in London (yes, that's also the place where Kid A and also many new english bands (Klaxons, Kooks, Hot Chip ...) have worked).
Soldout just sent us the first title "The Box", the production was entrusted to Mr. Jason Boshoff who did among other things the latest Shy Child album.

Soldout will give a unique concert this summer @ Les Ardentes, their second album is expected late September.
