Soyons brefs : My Trap est l?une des plus belles surprises entendues ces derniers mois. On attendait pas grand chose de ses auteurs : l?ex-clavi�riste de Tahiti 80 Fabrice Hubert et son comparse David Leloup avaient sign�, en 2004, un disque bord�lique, plaisant mais franchement dispensable (Two Brains For Feet). Or, Y�y� renait aujourd?hui sous la forme d?une improbable machine � tubes, n�s d?un mariage joliment r�arrang� entre sons synth�tiques et notes organiques, fulgurances live et calibrage m�tronomique. Banal sur le papier. Dans les oreilles, c?est une autre limonade. Si Hubert et Leloup forment l?ossature de Y�y�, ce noyau dur reste ouvert � tous les vents rafraichissants. Le tandem est �paul� par l?ex-Boo Radleys Sice, Mark Gardener (ex-Ride), Jon Auer (The Posies), Helena Noguerra, La Maison Tellier, Wilfried Schaeffer (Maarten) ou encore Cl�ment Daquin (Alb). Malgr� tout, My Trap n?est pas un disque de producteurs � featurings fa�on UNKLE ou Death In Vegas. R�ellement impliqu�, Sice cosigne plus de la moiti� des titres, prom�ne son sourire m�lodieux au milieu de basses vrombissantes et de claviers kal�idoscopiques (le tube �ponyme en ouverture), �voque � notre bon souvenir les Allemands Miles (Heroine), une �ventuelle reformation d?Electronic (So Long), convoque Saint-Etienne ou Eggstone (la cuivr�e Pope Of The Pop, port�e par le tandem Helena-Sice). First show of SOLDOUT yesterday as support for FRONT 242 in Frankfurt...it it was a real success.
I'm so happy we picked SOLDOUT to follow us on those German dates, really!
Even if our German audience is usually not too much into that kind of electro, the response was positive and warm!
The show was strong, the sound perfect and the band into it a 100%! I personally enjoy it and will for sure be there every night to enjoy it again!

Yesterday we were in Stuttgart, and guess what? SOLDOUT did it again! The sound was even better than in Frankfurt.
Last night was probably a little more challenging for the band cause they started early and most of the audience was still not front stage!
But that certainly didn't stop Chalotte and David to get into it, quick and efficiently, and it took them only 2 tracks to get the entire attention of the public.
Response was surely positive to their perfect performance. Charlotte's vocals were again at the right place and level and David's synths sound attack cutting like a blade!
A strong electro-cocktail to start the evening!

Soldout on "BOXON MAKES ME CRAZY" LP

After the release in January 2009 of the LP called "Boxon Makes Me Happy" (ref. Boxon007), which has been pretty successfull (special discovery of artists such as Gooseflesh & StereoHeroes / good reviews in the french magazines such as Trax & Tsugi / some of the tracks have been playlisted on BBC Radio 1), now is coming the new BOXON compilation, and it is called "BOXON MAKES ME CRAZY".

This project will show you nice electronic music from artists who come from all around the word (Portugal, France, Russia, Belgium, United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil, and Argentina), and discovered by Julien Minet (Boxon director) during this year 2009. I'm sure you'll love to get it in your hands when it's OUT !!!

Also, the awesome design of the cover has been realised by our art designer, Anem.

(The) Silent Days : About the AB gig on Music In Belgium

Sans grande surprise, ce concert affichait complet et on �tait curieux de voir si le regain de forme affich� lors des pr�c�dentes prestations sc�niques (en mars 2008 dans la m�me salle et quelques mois plus tard au Pukkelpop) allait se confirmer. Mais avant de juger sur pi�ces, place � une premi�re partie, The Silent Days. Un groupe on ne peut plus british (le style, l'attitude, l'accent) � la diff�rence essentielle qu'ils sont fran�ais et assez implant�s en Belgique. En effet, leur premier album, "I Am Nothing" est distribu� par le label hutois Anorak Supersport.

Sur sc�ne, ils sont d�j� bien aguerris et leurs influences plut�t crasseuses du d�but des 90's (Dinosaur Jr, Lemonheads) en un peu plus poppy sont �tonnamment limpides gr�ce � un son r�gl� � la perfection (pour un groupe de support). Ajoutons-y la voix assur�e et le jeu de guitare sans faille de leur leader Julien Bouchard et on arrive � une prestation qui, sans �tre r�volutionnaire, aura convaincu. Cerise sur le g�teau, cette excellente cover du "Chapel Hill" de Sonic Youth, une autre de leurs influences majeures. A ce moment, on ne le savait pas encore, mais on avait int�r�t � en avoir bien profit�?

Lot of changes to begin this new season at anorak's.
We have lightened our label for some different reasons.
Exit Showstar (end of contract). The band has created his own structure (label, management and booking).
We wish them the best !
Besides, we've put an end to some of our licence deals (iamx, robots in disguise, nietzsche,...).
And our collaboration with the french label kitchen music is over.
Nevertheless, you will find "our past" in the section "friends and back catalogue" and most of their records are available (till they're sold out) in our online store.

We're looking for new signatures and we'll let you know about that for sure.

Soldout, namely the duo David and Charlotte from Brussels, appropriately head the bill. Following their debut ?Stop Talking?, they toured through Europe and finished up at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York. In 2007 they met Jason Boshoff, known for his work for Groove Armada, Basement Jaxx and Shy Child and he promptly suggested mixing their new album. New album ?CUTS? proved to be a bomb too: a more somber tone, but still a danceable rollercoaster. Following a Botanique concert that was sold out weeks in advance, the Soldout party caravan will stop on the Anspachlaan in mid February.

MVSC is a project from MONTEVIDEO, those 4 young guys from Brussels who first presented themselves to an audience last year during ABBota. With their energetic and compelling electro-dance-rock, they were hailed as the newest Belgian rock sensation at the time, think: The Rapture or !!! Now they?re fraternizing with electro miracle-man and Dirty Dancing resident COMPUPHONIC to together provide dancefloor mechanisms that raise the roof. Following an avant premi�re in the VUB Kultuurkaffee on 11 December (as part of ABClubCircuit) then finally live in the AB.

Norwegian Casiokids play around with all sorts of electronica, just like primary school children. So its not so strange then that they also give shows for children in their homeland (with Digitalteateret). But aside from that they were also able to win the heart of our travelling man at the Oya Festival in Oslo, with their grooves that waver between dark electro and naive pop. A revelation that has just been included in the succulent Moshi Moshi stables.

Since early 2006, AB has been laying new tracks with the NOW_SERIES. Samples of what?s happening today in a broadly defined genre are presented sporadically under this title. Our ears are pricked in all directions and of course we don't forget the local talent either. Further, no blinkers: all sub-genres must be able to be represented in order to introduce the audience to particular tendencies.

The electronic duo is currently putting the final touch to the recording of its second album @ studio Strongroom in London (yes, that's also the place where Kid A and also many new english bands (Klaxons, Kooks, Hot Chip ...) have worked).
Soldout just sent us the first title "The Box", the production was entrusted to Mr. Jason Boshoff who did among other things the latest Shy Child album.

Soldout will give a unique concert this summer @ Les Ardentes, their second album is expected late September.
