My Trap
(Anorak Supersport/Differ-Ant)
Soyons brefs : My Trap est l’une des plus belles surprises entendues ces derniers mois. On attendait pas grand chose de ses auteurs : l’ex-claviériste de Tahiti 80 Fabrice Hubert et son comparse David Leloup avaient signé, en 2004, un disque bordélique, plaisant mais franchement dispensable (Two Brains For Feet). Or, Yéyé renait aujourd’hui sous la forme d’une improbable machine à tubes, nés d’un mariage joliment réarrangé entre sons synthétiques et notes organiques, fulgurances live et calibrage métronomique. Banal sur le papier. Dans les oreilles, c’est une autre limonade. Si Hubert et Leloup forment l’ossature de Yéyé, ce noyau dur reste ouvert à tous les vents rafraichissants. Le tandem est épaulé par l’ex-Boo Radleys Sice, Mark Gardener (ex-Ride), Jon Auer (The Posies), Helena Noguerra, La Maison Tellier, Wilfried Schaeffer (Maarten) ou encore Clément Daquin (Alb). Malgré tout, My Trap n’est pas un disque de producteurs à featurings façon UNKLE ou Death In Vegas. Réellement impliqué, Sice cosigne plus de la moitié des titres, promène son sourire mélodieux au milieu de basses vrombissantes et de claviers kaléidoscopiques (le tube éponyme en ouverture), évoque à notre bon souvenir les Allemands Miles (Heroine), une éventuelle reformation d’Electronic (So Long), convoque Saint-Etienne ou Eggstone (la cuivrée Pope Of The Pop, portée par le tandem Helena-Sice). Ailleurs, Jon Auer prend la parole sur Comin’At Night, prière rétrofuturiste pour nef digitale aux lointains échos du Synthetizers In The Rain de Denim. Enfin, citons Understand, perdu entre claviers cheesy et guitares atmosphériques – les mêmes qui brouillent My Story ou Oxford 3am, hommage à la ville de Mark Gardener, qui tient le manche acoustique de Supa Vixen, modèle de pop éclatée et multicolore. Cet impeccable florilège parsème les clins d’œil aux vieux amis, les coups de coude à la concurrence et déploie son insolente exubérance avec une classe insouciante. My Trap est de ces pièges dans lesquels on tombe volontiers, certain d’y trouver la perfection.

Richard 23 Vs Soldout (04/18/2010)
First show of SOLDOUT yesterday as support for FRONT 242 in Frankfurt...it it was a real success.
I'm so happy we picked SOLDOUT to follow us on those German dates, really!
Even if our German audience is usually not too much into that kind of electro, the response was positive and warm!
The show was strong, the sound perfect and the band into it a 100%! I personally enjoy it and will for sure be there every night to enjoy it again!

Yesterday we were in Stuttgart, and guess what? SOLDOUT did it again! The sound was even better than in Frankfurt.
Last night was probably a little more challenging for the band cause they started early and most of the audience was still not front stage!
But that certainly didn't stop Chalotte and David to get into it, quick and efficiently, and it took them only 2 tracks to get the entire attention of the public.
Response was surely positive to their perfect performance. Charlotte's vocals were again at the right place and level and David's synths sound attack cutting like a blade!
A strong electro-cocktail to start the evening!

After the release in January 2009 of the LP called "Boxon Makes Me Happy" (ref. Boxon007), which has been pretty successfull (special discovery of artists such as Gooseflesh & StereoHeroes / good reviews in the french magazines such as Trax & Tsugi / some of the tracks have been playlisted on BBC Radio 1), now is coming the new BOXON compilation, and it is called "BOXON MAKES ME CRAZY".
This project will show you nice electronic music from artists who come from all around the word (Portugal, France, Russia, Belgium, United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil, and Argentina), and discovered by Julien Minet (Boxon director) during this year 2009. I'm sure you'll love to get it in your hands when it's OUT !!!
Also, the awesome design of the cover has been realised by our art designer, Anem.

(The) Silent Days : About the AB gig on Music In Belgium (02/12/2010)
Sans grande surprise, ce concert affichait complet et on était curieux de voir si le regain de forme affiché lors des précédentes prestations scéniques (en mars 2008 dans la même salle et quelques mois plus tard au Pukkelpop) allait se confirmer. Mais avant de juger sur pièces, place à une première partie, The Silent Days. Un groupe on ne peut plus british (le style, l'attitude, l'accent) à la différence essentielle qu'ils sont français et assez implantés en Belgique. En effet, leur premier album, "I Am Nothing" est distribué par le label hutois Anorak Supersport.
Sur scène, ils sont déjà bien aguerris et leurs influences plutôt crasseuses du début des 90's (Dinosaur Jr, Lemonheads) en un peu plus poppy sont étonnamment limpides grâce à un son réglé à la perfection (pour un groupe de support). Ajoutons-y la voix assurée et le jeu de guitare sans faille de leur leader Julien Bouchard et on arrive à une prestation qui, sans être révolutionnaire, aura convaincu. Cerise sur le gâteau, cette excellente cover du "Chapel Hill" de Sonic Youth, une autre de leurs influences majeures. A ce moment, on ne le savait pas encore, mais on avait intérêt à en avoir bien profité…
